Sue is an expert in creating user experiences that are compelling, satisfying, and confidence building. She specializes in leading multi-disciplinary teams to design successful products by focusing on people first. Sue is well known in the interface design and usability professional community. She was on the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Usability Professionals’ Association. She has presented at conferences and authored articles and essays published by the Usability Professionals’ Association and the Society for Technical Communicators.

Champion for Change + Innovation

Championing change and transferring knowledge are Sue’s strengths. Over the course of 13 years at the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Sue implemented organizational changes resulting in a greater focus on the employee, agent, agency staff, and policy owner in the selection, development, and deployment of technology-based products. After building the company’s usability lab, she organized and managed a team with skills in usability, visual, information, and instructional design, technical writing, prototyping, programming, and Web development. She has similarly helped Gomoll Research and Design clients introduce user-centered techniques into their cultures and methodologies.

Wide Range of Experience

Sue has directed research and design projects for products ranging from
high-productivity financial applications to Internet appliances and consumer electronics — including products with potentially millions of users. Her hands-on experience ranges from research and conceptualization through detailed design, prototyping, and documentation. Sue has designed and integrated products for a wide range of hardware and software platforms, including the Web and many operating systems and programming languages. Early in her career, Sue was a programmer and systems analyst, and managed a team of 15 implementing the company’s first PC-based applications.

Sue has a Master of Science Degree in Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics — both from the University of Wisconsin.
